are just two kilometers inside the band the lunar shadow will plot on the Earth.
In Austria and neighbouring regions of Bavaria, I wrote them down from the atlas Österreich Touring (scale 1 : 250 000, grid each quarter degree) from freytag & berndt and from their maps 1 : 200 000 (grid each ten minutes) of federal states of Austria (No. 1, 2, 4 and 6). Strips of these maps are available here with permission of the publisher (freytag & berndt, Czech office Varhulíkové 120, 170 00 Praha 7, tel./fax: 02-800 161, e-mail: freytag.cirhan@oasanet.cz).
On the northern margin the best line begins in Bavaria three kilometers north from Arnstorf and goes through Mariakirchen, Sachsenham and Thiersbach (center of settlement is meant, if not said otherwise). It enters Austria on the northern outskirts of Scharding (12.5 km south from the centre of Passau) (map 200 KB). It proceeds through Waging, Magga, Eschenau i. Hausr., Feldkirchen a. d. D. and railway station Linz (map 220 KB). Then it floats on Danube around Mauthausen and Mettensdorf (map 180 KB). Then over Marbach a. d. Kl. Erlauf and 2 km north from Kirchberg a. d. Pielach (map 235 KB). It passes 1 km south from Lilienfeld and Kleinzell, through the saddle between Berndorf and Markt-Piesting and through southern parts of Steinabrückl and Theresienfeld (map 170 KB). Then it goes through Zillingtal and Wulkaprodersdorf, Mörbisch a. See and Pamhagen (map 150 KB).
On the southern limit the best line goes in Bavaria through Bad Feilnbach and then it varies its course, as it is, viewed vertically, shifted southward (with respect to the straight line) some six tenths of the altitude of the terrain, what plays some role in the Alps. It crosses four times the border of Bavaria and Tyrolia, goes through the northern limit of Entfelden, through the large projection of Salzburg land over Kniepass (map 170 KB), through the last projection of Bavaria 1 km south from the village Königssee, over the southern slope of Bleikogel, through Lungötz, 4 km south from the top of Dachstein (map 160 KB), over Haus, 1 km south from the Glattjoch saddle (map 160 KB), over Oberzeiring, northern outskirts of Fohnsdorf, over Grossblobming, Graden (map 190 KB), Steinberg, southern parts of Graz (railway bridge over the highway in Liebenau), over the top of Sengerberg, Olberdorf a. H., Saaz, 1.5 km south from Feldbach (map 200 KB) and Oberdrosen. Then it crosses a projection of Hungary by Felsőszölnök, goes through Slovenia over Čepinci and Hodoš, and then enters Hungary 1 km north from the border crossing (map 185 KB).
In Hungary I have employed a map by GeoMedia (1 : 300 000, grid each ten minutes with halves of degree thicker). The coordinate grid has no legend, but it is easy to supplement the values. The strips are reproduced here using permission of Kartografia, which took over the GeoMedia.
On the northern margin, the line of best sites goes over the centre of the town Csorna (map 60 KB), through the southern rim of Rábaszentmihály, over the railway stop in Lázi, centre of the town Mór, northern rim of Zámoly (map 150 KB), 1 km north from railway station Kápolnásnyék, southern suburbs of Kiskunlacháza (map 100 KB), southern rim of Lajosmizse (map 122 KB), cuts meanders of Tisza and southern suburb of Kunszentmárton, goes 0.5 km north from Cserebökény, (map 128 KB), over Szabadkigyós and enters Romania just north from Elek (in Romania it goes then 0.5 km north from Cintei).
The southern line goes 0.5 km north from the border crossing from Slovenia by Kotormány, 2 km north from Kalócfa, over Felsőrajk and Zalaszabar (map 140 KB), 2 km south from the railway station in Marcali, over Somodyjád, east railway station in Dombóvár (map 130 KB), Magosc, 2.5 km south fro centres of Bonyhád and Baja and approaches to Vojvodina 0.5 km south from the railway stop Bácsbokod (map 120 KB).
