StarChile 2010   :   CCD observations of variable star ATACAMA3 Vel


The new W UMa (EW) type eclipsing binary ATACAMA3 Vel = CzeV205 Vel = VSX J081203.3-482643 = USNO-B1.0 0415-0102365 (R.A. = 08h 12m 03.357s, Decl. = -48° 26' 43.07", equinox 2000.0, m = 14.0 - 14.3 V mag) has been found near variable star AO Vel on 13th April 2010 by Martin Lehký and Dalibor Hanžl at Space Atacama Lodge near San Pedro de Atacama, Chile (68° 10' 48.7" W and 22° 57' 09.8" S) using a 0.20-m f/4 reflector and SBIG ST-8 CCD camera with BVRI filters (field of view 59' x 39' and 2.3" x 2.3" / 1 px).

Comparison stars were cmp USNO-B1.0 0412-0103837 ( R.A. = 08h 13m 32.344s, Decl. = -48° 47' 04.08", J2000.0, R2mag = 9.66), ch1 USNO-B1.0 0413-0101990 ( R.A. = 08h 11m 24.789s, Decl. = -48° 38' 43.92", J2000.0, R2mag = 9.68) and ch2 USNO-B1.0 0413-0101892 ( R.A. = 08h 11m 18.215s, Decl. = -48° 39' 44.00", J2000.0, R2mag = 10.22).


ATACAMA3 Vel / 3 nights / 14.1 hours / VRI / 2 minima timings (5)

HJD Min I = 2455302.59789 +/- 0.00090   /   P = 0.3730 +/- 0.0010 d   /   amplitude 0.29 mag


Discovery has been preliminary published in the catalogue CzeV (# 205) - 24th July 2010 & in the International Variable Star Index (# VSX J081203.3-482643) - 24th July 2010.
The times of minima will be publish in the database of Variable Star and Exoplanet Section of Czech Astronomical Society.
