ASTROMETRY OF COMETS AND MINOR PLANETS
Since 2002 was renewed working of the two Czech astrometric stations: 048 Hradec Kralove and 616 Brno. Research projects are rountine
astrometrycof comets, confirmation and follow-up astrometry of newly discovered objects posted on the
NEO Confirmation Page (new comets, NEOs and unusual minor planets).
The measurements of precise positions are published in Minor Planet Electronic Circulars (MPEC)
and International Astronomical Union Circulars (IAUC).Observational activities are on
an amateur base.

048 Hradec Kralove ( 15 50 26.88 E, 50 10 38.42 N, 272.76m )

This MPC station is located in an observing house near the local observatory HPHK on kopec Svateho Jana - St.John Hill, close to the southern suburb
of Hradec Kralove town (with over 100.000 inhabitants), which is the capital city of the Eastern Bohemia. The north part of the sky is disturbed by
light pollution, but limiting magnitude is about 5.8 mags on the average.
Automated 0.40-m f/5 Jan Sindel Telescope + CCD ST7 was built in 2002
incooperation of the Hradec Kralove observatory (HPHK) and Astronomical Society in Hradec Kralove
(ASHK).The limiting magnitude is about 18.0 magson a 60s exposures in good nights; field of view is
13 × 9 arcminutes. The frames are made with CCDOPS and measurements are made with ASTROMETRICA3.2 (till November 2002) and APHOT (since
December 2002). APHOT is a professional software developed by M. Velen and P. Pravec from Ondrejov observatory (MPC station 557).
616 Brno ( 16 35 02.2 E, 49 12 14.9 N, 304m )

This MPC station is located at observatory on Kravi hora - MonteBoo Hill in the centre of the town Brno (with over 500.000 inhabitants), which is a
capital city of Moravia of the Czech Republic. The sky is strongly disturbed by light pollution and limiting magnitude is only about 5.0 mags on
theaverage.
Automated 0.62-m f/4.5 reflector + CCD ST8 was built by Masaryk University in Brno (MU). The limiting magnitude is
about 18.0 mags with a 120s exposure during good nights; field of view is 18 × 12 arcminutes. The frames are acquired with CCDOPS and measurements
are made with ASTROMETRICA 3.2 (till November 2002) and APHOT (since December 2002). APHOT is a professional software developed by M. Velen and P. Pravec
from Ondrejov observatory (MPC station 557).
